Ohio cities push Kasich to veto tax reform – Lancaster Eagle-Gazette

“LANCASTER – Local government officials are taking ongoing complaints about municipal tax reform to the governor’s office in hopes of persuading Gov. John Kasich to veto the changes approved this week.

Ohio Municipal League President and Canton Mayor Jamie Healy said during a conference call with reporters Thursday that the top concern is preserving home rule.

‘The home rule issue is where we feel they’re really overstepping their boundaries the most,’ Healy said, adding he hopes they won’t need to attempt a legal challenge.

Opponents fear the bill is a step toward the state taking over the administration of municipal taxes…”
